I should've joined after the first scholastic drop. Should've joined again after the second. Same with the third. During the third, I finally got to where I wanted to. Did a lot of research online and made some calls to two recruiters, but a health issue that happened in the meantime automatically disqualified me.
I could've definitely used the structure and time to reevaluate everything. At that point, drinks, bars, and pussy were the only things on my mind. Oh well, can't go back and do it now

That's also true of every private ever dating back to the time of the Pharaohs.

Yeah, but the problem was that I was busy failing school at the time. My GPA was horrendous, and didn't come up until I switched majors at like 23 or 24

I love you little speed bump guys.
But I am still pissed off as hell that they've moved the Armor School to fricking Benning.

All I'm going to say is at least 90% of the people I know who enlisted didn't have much else going for them.

We grunts were not happy about it either. I have respect for Tankers but Ft. Benning is our home and I'm sure the Tankers like having their own home as well.

Meh, at the time I joined I thought it was for school. But now I think it was because I wanted to do something bigger than myself.

I joined out of boredom, mostly. I don't ask for any praise. I did my job. Personally, I don't care why someone joined, they all signed the same contract. As long as they served honorably, they're worthy of the same respect, praise is optional.

Let us get you in restrictive terrain with a Dragon or a TOW II and we will see who is the speed bump. But yeah, on open ground we are (mostly) just axle grease/table IX gunnery.

I volunteered because I wanted to serve my country.
As long as I can remember, I wanted to serve.
By the time I was in high school, I knew I wanted to join the military and teach history. Now I'm retired and teaching.

Thank you. You're exactly right. It would be like closing down either Alabama or Auburn and moving everything into one campus. Glad all this happened long after my time.
I will say though I'm hearing one good thing to come from this is they're also moving virtually everything from FT. Knox's Patton Museum of Armor to a new museum at Benning which means it's a shorter ride for me to go visit.

I joined when the Soviets were still the big threat. I had hoped to pick up battleship duty but ended up on a carrier.
I decided to get out because I wanted to finish my degree and the Navy's path was too slow for my taste. But I have always been proud to have served my country.
I certainly could have just gone to college first...shrug.
