Are we talking about licensed professional engineers?
Are you not an engineer if you do not have a PE?

Or a plant operator? Or a building stationary engineer?
A operator is not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination. The first thing they tell me when we try to discuss an issue is "I am not an engineer"

Usually, a professional is someone who graduated from a professional school. Engineering is considered a professional school. So there you go.

Some guys around here get really upset if you do
Might be semantics but technically being an E.I./EIT is a certification not a license...

If an engineer holds a (or many) Professional Engineering licenses I'm not sure how anyone could argue they are not in fact a professional. Even if they don't there's room for argument...white collar = professional in some sense.

Are you on the rag? Why the frick do you care no one is begging you to click the thread.

It's like you're arguing that a RN is a doctor.

If you work at a plant you don't need a license, as they work under industrial exclusion/exemption. They call themselves engineers, they just consult out whenever they need a PE stamp.

The fact that someone thinks only lawyers and doctors are professionals is just ridiculous.

I don't believe that you're an engineer. None of the successful (re: professional) engineers I know, have the time to seek attention on the OT.
So those guys are the litmus test for you? Seems legit brah

But you really are. You're entire intention for creating this thread was to seek validation (re: attention) for your opinion on the subject. Had no one responded, you'd feel very dejected.

I successfully trolled the OP on two threads now.

Let me translate that for you: "Hurry up and say what you feel needs to be said. I'm immediately disregarding it when you leave anyway. Nerd."

He's super touchy. OP, we are all very proud and impressed by your profession. Also, nice truck.

Interesting considering my EIT had a license number.

Most if not all of the engineers I know did not go to a graduate program. If I'm not mistaken, "professional schools" are reserved for post-graduate education.
