It's supposed to be a totally "wellness" company selling items by salesperson only.

It looks like a total pyramid scheme to me- I.e. you recruit or sell to 3 people, you get a commission, but if you recruit 3 people to sell their stuff, you get a cut of each of their sales, etc. Somehow though they insist they aren't a multilevel marketing scam.

I have a relative that is pushing hard for the SO to start "making money on the side".

Melaleuca

Anyone run across this?

My dad got into that a LONG time ago, like 15-20 years. I think it's essentially a pyramid scheme with legitimate products... from my memory. We used the shyte out of them.

So I have a business opportunity I'd like your opinion on.

Oh yeah, what is it?

I'm not 100% sure but a buddy who makes a ton of $ is going to show me tomorrow. I'll pick you up and we'll go together.

The wife bought into it. The products are good and reasonable priced so we have kept it. It is a hassle to keep up with it so we probably will eventually cancel.

Wife had a friend selling it. It's supposedly not as harmful, it requires the consumer to purchase "X" amount of dollars per month to continue to be in the cool club. I put an end to that shite. You end up spending money on unnecessary things like all natural toothpaste.

The same here. SShe began buying it from a friend. Their cleaning products work pretty well.

I have R/R M.S. and I'm constantly searching for "homeopathic" type products to assist me. On those nights when it feels like there's a small human being standing on my shoulders-stabbing me in the base of my neck with a cattle prod and my hands are on fire, their "CounterAct PM" works fairly well to help me get to sleep.

As far as it being a pyramid scheme, pretty sure it qualifies.

My house looks like a Melaleuca distribution center.....

ETA: the wife got really into it after our baby was born. All of our laundry detergent, softener, dryer sheets, cleaners, candles, etc etc etc is all Melaleuca.

I will say that they had the best men's deodorant ever and quit making it. Kept me dry and smellin good. Had to go back to Old Spice burnin my armpits

I signed up for my paralegal years ago just to be nice. I had to order a minimum amount of product per month. I started researching the products and realizing there wasn't much special about them. They don't have any independent testing, and their healthy and natural claims are largely Bs

My wife requested the info packet from them a few years back but when we read the small print we knew it was more or less a pyramid scheme and did not pursue it.

frick melaleuca. They convinced my SO that normal household products are bad so we can't use normal laundry or dish detergent, can't use normal fricking soap or cleaning products. Her friend turned her onto this shite and they all insist it isn't a scam. If you don't order a minimum amount every month, they just charge you and send you random shite you don't need. Worthless

Yep. And if you look at labels you can buy better/safer stuff at Wal-Mart. Just because you stick tea tree oil in something doesn't make it healthy and safe. And if they are so pure then why not go through independent testing?

And the "all natural toothpaste" isn't remotely all natural.
