I am not talking about going 25 - 30 in a 20. More like 35-40 down neighborhood streets.

This to me is a tell tale sign of an a-hole driver.

I don't think there is any justification for flying through neighborhood streets like an imbecile.

*Note I also am one of those that hates left lane drivers and drives faster on the interstate. I just think driving like that through a neighborhood is a douche move.

Dear Facebook.

That's my second "dear facebook" of the day. There seems to be an OT trend.

I don't disagree with you, but it really depends on the street.

Some neighborhood streets are wide and straight with few if any blind spots. They may even be 4 laned with wide shoulders. The houses all have ample drive ways, etc. It's tempting to travel 45 in a 35 mph zone like that.

On the other hand, some streets are narrow with lots of cars parked on the street and with blind spots galore. New Orleans is chock full of those types of streets. On those streets, traveling at the posted speed limit of 25 mph feels like you are speeding. If you are exceeding 30 mph on those streets, it is extremely dangerous.

That's expected when you have a grid system. Not saying the residents deserve it. Just pointing out the reason.

You should pour your street a concrete speed bump

I live on a dead end street that is probably less than a quarter mile long and people pass my house going 40mph or better going to the end of the street. It makes no sense to me. Speed limit is 25mph, get off my lawn!eta

If you don't repair the roads, drivers will naturally drive 25 mph. See Lakeview.

I live on a pretty busy Avenue in Metairie, if Im trying to back up my boat into my driveway(which is just temporary when using it, $500 per day fine to keep there) people are either trying to get around the front or back of me. It only takes me about 30 seconds tops but people just cannot wait.
