Speed Violation from New Orleans in Rental Car

Is this crap equivalent to the red light camera tickets that I can just ignore and throw away? It states that if I do nothing, this $30 handling fee will be charged to the card I have on file with Avis (they show the last 4 digits of the card), but this is all being sent from the camera company. Also, I should expect a speeding violation separate from this $30 charge. I'm going to call Avis about it tomorrow and see if any of the charges are being filtered through them and why would they give my credit card info over to another company without my consent. Anyone dealt with this before?

It’s a rental car scam. They’re trying to nickel and dime you.

So is this coming from the rental car company of the red light company?
The root cause is the losers of New Orleans putting up speeding cameras and giving no one due process, but that is another issue.

I’ve never gotten a red light camera ticket in New Orleans and I’m quite not sure what the cities process is like. However, in BR I’ve accumulated 6 red light ticket cameras and never paid one of them, in fact, I’ve always immediately threw them away into the trash. They don’t affect your license status, or affect your credit, and just send out a “mean” follow up letter in the mail stating “you better pay up”, again, threw right in the trash once again.
If anything, aside from cancelling your credit card to avoid paying the fees, call into the Avis customer service line and have them provide you the evidence they have stating that you ran a red light. They’ll more than likely won’t have shite to provide you as evidence, and will try and say there’s nothing they can do for you.
If all else fails cancel your card, ASAP.

It’s buried in paragraph 21 wayyyy down on page 10 of your rental agreement that you signed when you rented the car. This happened to me years ago on Belle Chase Hwy in a rental when I was visiting from Los Angeles. I vaguely remember seeing the flash go off in my rear-view mirror. Months later a rather large fee appeared on my credit card from rental car co. I asked them how they can rip me off for a ticket without allowing me a chance to fight the ticket in Belle Chase. They referred me to said paragraph that says I agree to pay all fines as a result of any traffic violations. fricking rip off as they also added their own service fee. I then tried to report it as fraud by rental car but I lost. Sorry.
