Back in college some group came and demonstrated how they could teach us to read faster with better comprehension. Being poor, I didn't have the money to shell out to find out if it works, but now I'm curious.

Have any of y'all tried this? What were the results?

I finished reading this before you posted it

I can hook you up for half price but I'm on a military base awaiting deployment and my wife isn't home because she is training with NASA in northern Alaska so I'm going to need you to wire me $2,500 via western union and I can get this process started

I can teach you how to make a ton of money in the real estate flipping market, but I need you to give me $200 to attend a conference where I talk about it with you and 100 other chumps

There are three main tricks to speed reading.

1) use a finger on the page to guide your eyes

2) don't "speak" the words in your head

3) read two lines at a time

Takes practice. There are some other minor tricks like skipping over smaller words like "a" "as" "the"

Works nice for skimming magazines. Not good for reading technical documentation

Legit. But reading is like anything else, the more you read the better you will comprehend the material.

teachers always said we were gonna need to know this stuff when we grow up but I can count on one hand literally how many times I've used reading since middle school

ACT prep class. I don't remember exactly but you'd basically read every other line and skip words less than 3 letters or something. Honestly I could be making that up it was a while ago.

Yes. Was taught in 8th grade.

One of the few things school was good for. The other was girls.
