Where? On the shoulder?

Tni has 65.
Guy in left lane is an absolute idiot. Don't know how he got a cdl license.
Many trucks have different governed speeds.

The issue is too many cars and not enough road. 20 should be 3 lanes from Shreveport to Dallas.

quote:i stand corrected , didn't realize they were going same speeds and blocking the passing lane. Even if 1 truck is going 1mph faster, it should take about 3.5 minutes from switching lanes to getting far enough ahead to switch back to right lane. These two guys going the same speed
you’ve driven that route enough to know the speed limit then you’d also know most of it is two lane. Kinda hard to pass to trucks going sis by side on a two lane road.

They should just let the trucks bump draft. Get both the rigs over 65 and run more efficiently and be in one lane.

What higher speed limit do you suggest would cause less accidents?

Ever been out on the Causeway heading south at 6AM? It's the Indy 500. It's got nothing to do with speed limits. It's the idiots behind the wheel.

Try that stunt in Alabama, and you violate a 2019 anti-road-rage law basically stating that you have 1.5 miles to get out of the left lane.
Just wish they'd enforce the damn law. Got behind a driver that did 65 in the left lane from Tuscaloosa to Livingston (a little over 50 miles) on 59/20 and had traffic backed up in both lanes for miles. Between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa where there are three lanes, it seems like slow drivers that camp out in the middle lane cause more problems than those that stay in the left lane.

They should let truckers drive more road hours - IF they drive AT NIGHT to get that truck shitshow off the road during the day. Seems like a win-win.

Why don't you just calm down and stop speeding. You are causing all the accidents.

Most of western Europe with multiple lane roads, have VERY strict laws governing left lane usage and virtually ALL drivers adhere to those laws...it's drilled into each driving students head as well as commercial truckers. Their driving PRIVLEDGES are well earned and very expensive so most drivers follow the law ! The result of all this is the left lane is truly only utilized for passing...allowing for a much smoother traffic flow. Commercial trucks also have a slower speed limit than passenger cars and in many cases have to be off the interstates by noon Sat. and most of the day on Sun. EVERYBODY agrees...we can wait a few more days for the new toaster...lol Problem here is: truck lobbies PAY congressman/senators so this can't happen here PLUS our general driving public is NOT required to undergo the extensive training/schooling and is thus fairly ignorant of all this !

quote:I do! It's because Jimmy Carter deregulated the industry and now businesses both small and mega are taking advantage of the green card expansions for the trucking industry because they can pay Indians, Africans, east europeans, and russians 1/3 of what an American driver demanlds. Don't believe me? Go to any major chain truck stop like Loves, Pilot, Flying J and take a look around. Companies are bringing them in by the boat load, training them for a week, and sending em out on the roads. If they get in enough trouble with legal issues from tickets or causing accidents, they just send them home because there's no extradition power to keep them here. It's absolute insanity what politicians have done with the trucking industry for the last 20 years.
Don't know how he got a cdl license.

One thing that needs to happen with the interstates in this country is widening them all to 3 lanes minimum, this will reduce a lot of the headache of the increased truck and passenger vehicle traffic everywhere. Spend the money here to do this instead of funding every foreign government in the world.

most carrier companies govern the speed of their trucks. so there is nothing they can do about it.
Why can't the truck in the right lane slow down temporarily to allow the other to pass and get back over?

Where is the data you are citing?

Without a doubt, has caused more vehicle accidents

Not sure if it's still in effect now, but I've ridden my motorcycle from N.O. to a friends house in Indiana 4 times over the years and the route I favor takes me through a portion of Illinois.
Every time I hit that state the speed limit on the interstate is posted at 65 mph and I've seen my share of cop cars sitting atop the roadway where it crosses over the interstate checking for speeders.
