That's a shithead truck driver problem, not a speed limit problem. They do that at 70mph too
most carrier companies govern the speed of their trucks. so there is nothing they can do about it.
it is very annoying. 2 trucks passing, but the one in the right hand lane likely has a heavier payload making his truck like 1 mph slower.

The issue is too many cars and not enough road. 20 should be 3 lanes from Shreveport to Dallas.

I think the assholes who ride in the left lane the entire time need to be charged for some sort of crime
It is a ticket that is very expensive and should be because folks who clog the left lane going slow cause more wrecks than speeders.

Why don't you just pass them? Limit is 75 most of 20 to Dallas

The trucking companies install governors/regulators/limiters on their fleets to save money on their massive insurance payments. The driver has nothing to do with it. He'd drive 90 if he could.

I'd expect this from Alabamians.
Road rage is the lowest form of mouth-breather activity. If you're too stupid to calm down and act civil, then you road rage, shoot up some public event or sleep with a relative.

I get that, but why doesn't the guy in the right lane let off a little so the passing truck gets on around.
It's like they're having a pissing contest and anyone behind them be damned.

The stretch of 40 between Memphis and Oklahoma City is the busiest interstate in the entire country for 18 wheeler traffic.
all I got.

Do they restrict it to 65 when trucks using interstate like I20 with 70 and 75 speed limits being more of the norm (across Texas at least)?
One thing I usually experience on I20 between Dallas and Shreveport are the hills and valleys causing troubles with trucks and passing. If you were passing truck and wanted to get in right lane in front of it you needed to get some separation going uphill because it became a race again going downhill. When a truck passes you on the left you start to catch up on the right going up hills and others cars serve in and pass on the right. I don’t think the hills are that high, but ramps up and down are long with hills high enough to affect trucks and other cars not using cruise control creating more congestion at times than the amount of traffic should.

What are we talking about here? I’ve been on I-12 between BR and Hammond passing a truck going 83 ish and a-hole close on me going 95 and act like I’m the a-hole. frick those guys. You don’t get to go 95 and run people off the road because you’re special.

18 wheelers tend to clog up interstate traffic. !-12 between Slidell and BR can be brutal.

How does this cause crashes?
Posted on 12/17/24 at 6:13 pm to WaterLink
I-40 eastbound between Little Rock and Memphis was the absolute worst interstate I've ever driven for truck traffic. it's 75 mph for 3 miles..then following trucks for 10 miles at 65 mph..rinse and repeat until you get east of Memphis.

Just don’t get in front of an F-250 or bigger - you’ll get smashed as they do 100 mph. Happens every morning on I-10.

Who’s calculating the 1.5 miles? No one.

It’s a passing lane not the fastest lane. If a car is passing traffic on the right including a very tight group of cars it shouldn’t matter how fast they are going they should have the right away to finish passing before they get back in right lane. If after passing the car or cars they don’t get in right lane then they are the problem.
