After reading all these details, what we have here is a girl from a small town that has never left that small townut. The quote from the article said she was a co-teacher in a world history class, which means half her class would be normal students, and rest could be any random sort of SPED student. The could be sped because of ADHD type diagnosis, or they could just suck at math ur English and need more time, there is a wide range.

Not that it's right either way, but as High C said, people see SPED and are assuming things like Downs, which isn't really the case typically. That is called Self-contained, which is where severely mentally challenged students who can't be in normal classrooms are found.
