They are seriously mentally ill.
I'm not sure what the rate is.... Im sure its higher than general pop but you could say the same for homosexuals. at least prior to more mainstream acceptance of their sexual orientation. IMO you have to judge the individual. Some transgenders are well adjusted ...others not. I work with a transgender gal or is it guy... sorry its confusing. Its a girl that identifies as man. She is cool as shite, smart does her job well, and doesnt make her condition an issue at work (bathroom, stuff, pronoun naming) etc.. Prior to 2016 there was no ban on transgender individuals but we know they served and most probably served well and just kept their condition quiet.

Its actually closer to 40%
The idea that they kill themselves because society doesn't "accept" them is yet another tactic to normalize a mental condition while demonizing anyone calling it what it is. We don't call bulimics or people addicted to plastic surgery heroes, we try to help them. This isn't any different.

No matter who they are I believe we need to make efforts to not put someone who is mentally instable in one of the extremes of the human experience

This is where we get into the knitty gritty of what do we consider a mental disorder and what do we find an acceptable deviation from normal behavior. When it comes to sexual orientation, fetishes, gender identity....basically what makes up an individuals sexuality its not as cut and dry as those that try to politicize it on both sides believe.
These parents that prop the supposed trans gendered 5-10 year olds around in a neffort to virtue signal and are considering puberty suppressing drugs are imo causing damage to their children. Some of these kids are autistic and sexuality and gender is something they have a hard time processing. As far as adults that choose sexual re assignment as a cure for their gender dysmorphia... IDK..it doesn't seem right for me say they are all making the wrong decision and just dismiss them a crazy people mutilating themselves. I think mental health professionals have to and for the most part do consider the individual's overall mental health. Some go on to live fine lives and others commit suicide. Some commit suicide because they cant deal with the shame of their condition. The ones I met and gotten to know are just normal people that want to live their lives

I’ll give you the first hand scoop. My trans military support group has roughly a 1000 folks from every branch, active and reserve component. Many of us have had multiple combat deployments also. In the five or so years since I’ve been a member of that group, we’ve lost only one to suicide. Of the dozens of non-military trans people I keep in touch with, I haven’t had a friend commit suicide.
IMO, suicide rates amongst trans persons were MUCH higher in the late 20th and 2000’s, due to the “gate keeping” by psychologists and doctors, i.e. if you didn’t pass as a woman or man, then you were denied medical care for transition. Those who were denied, either found a way to cope with their lives, some more tragic than others.
I chose to retire from the Army prior to the full ban in April of 2018.
ETA: I have also lost three soldiers to suicide while they were in uniform.

Although the LGBT community has gained more acceptance in recent years, South Korea is still less tolerant...

The term is dysphoria, not dysmorphia and that's a huge difference. You can't have dysphoria without a psychological issue by definition. If an adult wants to mutilate their body, then it's perfectly fine with me as long as we all acknowledge that it's not normal or healthy. The problem is that now acceptance isn't good enough. We have to hail these people as heroes and any criticism of them is going to soon be deemed a crime.

No one is upset with you. I think the ability for you to fight through your disorder is truly inspiring.

That's pretty weak, even for you. I was expecting better. Your hormone treatments are killing your wit, bro.
