I lived on 10th and West ave for 6 years and had a lot of fun. It is a place you can have fun if rich or know right people in right places

Miami does kind of suck. Give me the Keys and the Gulf Coast of Florida any day.

Btw, if you know where to go in south Florida the amazingly hot women are still plentiful. It just is not south beach unless you go to loews, delano, sagamore, sls, hyde, or mangos.
Brickell is where the hotties are now. And coconut grove. Also, North of south beach at eden rock, fountain blu, and LiV.
Also the new club elleven downtown and the hard rock complex in hollywood.
Used to be you showed up on ocean drive and your jaw dropped and instant wood. Not anymore.

love that place.
I try to go to Miami once every couple of years or so for Winter Music Conference, and Space is definitely a must.

I'll get fricked up enough once or twice a year, usually on a long holiday weekend where my sleep schedule gets thrown off anyway. It does still have it's moments.
But, I'm telling you, it is NOTHING like it was around 2001. Seriously one of the greatest clubs in the history of clubs in the world for a few years back then.

It has the most bums you have ever saw and it smells worse than any place you have ever been ? It's hard to believe you are a saints fan and never been to a home game. There is not an inch of south beach that smell worse than the whole city of New Orleans...

I loved south beach when we went for the title game in 2012. It was expensive AF but the beaches and area were awesome, IMO.
Spent exactly zero time in Miami, tho

Most honest post I've seen in a long time.
SB is the most racist and pretentious place I have ever been. House/Trance of the early 2000's was pretty good if you were white. My issue was I didn't want to hear house/trance all night as I tried to sleep. I was also blown away by the rediculous street parking. Everywhere was 4hrs max, even overnight. You had to set an alarm every night to move your car.

South Beach smells worse than N.O. and has more bums, deal with it.

I guess I was a decade late because it sure does look like it has the potential to be one of the best areas in the nation but as you said (and I was reluctant to mention), the demographics aren't pleasing which erodes the quality.

Visited Miami in May. South Beach is atrocious when it wants to be. Parking is the biggest issue. Most places you can't park on the street. Most lots were overcharging bigtime.
Walking Ocean Dr is pretty cool but I got the feeling that most of the restaurants serve the same type of food.
Had way better experience in North Beach. Walked the entire boardwalk and the beach was actually alot better

Warning, about to get "racist"..
I left in 2003 and then moved back several years ago. South Beach was totally different. It had gone from about 50% latin, 35% white, 10% black to 40% black, 40% latin, 20% white. A lot of the blacks that roam ocean drive are just roaming and come from the poor areas like Overtown which is 5 miles away and housing projects. A lot just roam up and down on foot or packed with about 8 in a small car. Lot of them stink and make me wonder if they are homeless or something. frick tons of pot. Smell it just walking down the street. 80% of the hot women on sobe are gone now. There are only a few places on a sat or Sunday even worth a damn on sobe anymore. Mangos, the delano pool, loews pool, and sls pool party still attract top notch arse. That is out of about 100 places though and you don't get into sls as a guy unless you buy bottle service. 95% of sobe sucks now. And it is because the beautiful are mostly gone because they don't feel comfortable with all the questionable looking blacks hollaring at them, cat calling, etc.
That is just real talk and the way it is. You want to have fun on sobe, you need to know exactly where to go now. It isn't what it once was though it is still trying to live on that reputation.
Your demographics of South Beach are completely wrong. If you are just looking at the Miami metro area the black population is only like 20% if even that. The Latino population is rising. If you just look at Miami Beach area your talking less than 5% is black. This also has a 40% non-Hispanic white population making it the whitest place in Miami. If anything I found more noticeably gay individuals in the area. Finally, why the hell would there be less Latinos now than then? You sure you just didn't get drunk and woke in some random area of town.
It hasn't been that long since I have been to Miami. Its still as great as ever just a bit overrated. Those movies make seem way better than it really is.
I still prefer it to New Orleans. I'm sorry LSU fans but smell coming from your city is annoying as hell.

Miami was very disappointing to me. Lots of really dumb, low-IQ people, and as much overt racism that I've ever seen in the states. Everything is about what ethnicity you are to a point where it seems people are obsessed with it.
