Just to educate a few in this thread, the farm land was originally stolen from locals generations ago. They've been taking it back from white farmers for years, but they've paid them for it. It's been a mess as many don't sell. This vote was to stop the compensation part of their land reform process. It won't actually happen until the constitution is changed.

Yeah, it's a shitty deal all the way around. I was just trying to give some context to the story.
How long after you steal land should you be grandfathered in as the legal owner? Who is the rightful owner?
This land reform vote will turn the property over to the state. They'll presumably dole it out from there.
ETA - I don't support any of these actions, I'm just trying to give people an understanding of what has been happening there for a long time.

So here's some knowledge for you: the original owners of most of that land were wiped out centuries ago by both militant African tribes and whites. The vast majority of blacks in South Africa are descended from immigrant or itinerant tribes. Just because the skin color is the same, does not make every black man the rightful owner of every inch of Africa.
In addition, there were no farms, just open land as farmable crops hadn't spread that far south. So if you want it to be "right" when the whites are forced off their land, the buildings, irrigation, and infrastructure should be leveled, and the land allowed to lie fallow for long enough to return it to completely pre-white condition.
Then the immigrant blacks can have it.
