Anyone familiar with this feature?

My daughter tested it last night. It sent me an SOS text with pics from both cameras on the phone, an audio recording, and her location on Google maps.

You can add up to four contacts. There is where my question comes in.

Can you add 911 since it seems to be a text only feature?

I would think you don't add 911 as they would probably get a flood of people trying it out. But if you can add 4 people, they could just give the info to 911?

That is what I am thinking.

I don't believe 911 services are available through texts.

That would be an awesome feature, especially for women alone.

It would be great for a situation when you need to be quiet. Send the message and have your contacts call 911 with the info.

There are a lot places actually have that feature now. I know Jefferson County, AL 911 launched the feature back in November.

I need to find this out locally I suppose.

I'll have to find the non-emergency number for our 911 center.

The place you are looking for is called the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point).

This is the OT.

I read that as he was requesting to be added to future photos and locations of your daughter.

A couple weeks ago I stuck my iPhone upside down in my cup holder while I got out to open a gate. The buttons on both side were pressed in for long enough that I guess it activates some emergency mode and the next thing I know 911 is talking to me through my truck. I was confused as hell.

Honestly I hate the feature because I’m always trying to do something and hold my phone and manage to squeeze the buttons together at once and set it off.

Accidentally activated this feature on my phone while out fishing.

All of a sudden u was getting calls and texts from family to check if I'm ok.

Scared the shite out of them.

Which is better than lying out there with two broken legs hoping someone finds you.

If I lived there, I’d really care about such things.

Smart feature.

Just dont accidentally do it if you're up to no good on your own time.

I don't think that is what he was asking for.
