Does anyone have any experience with high-end large screen TV warranty work from Sony? Bought a new 65" 4 K Bravia, two months ago and now having vertical line on the screen. Sony has opted to ship me a replacement, but I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy a week into the replacement process. Seeing more flags than function...just wondering what their recent track record is with the O-T Nation.

I posted on the Tech board several months ago about my horrible experience with my Sony 55" having the power board go out and be replaced a couple times under warranty before they agreed to send a new TV.

There was compete frickuppery by the foreigners on the phone, and I had to cuss a man worse than I have ever done in my life, but they finally sent the new TV.

Once they sent it, the shipping company was okay. They sent me a trackiing link, and I saw it sitting in a warehouse for a couple days in Texas. I called, and they finally straightened that out, got it here, and scheduled delivery. Showed up on time, un-boxed the TV, put stand on, made sure it worked, etc.

Good luck!

Our 60" Vizio is less than two years old.
Now it has a subtle black horizatonal smudge about a foot long.

Outside of one year warranty and Vizio told us to pound sand.

You are inside 1 year warranty...you are good. Any TV manufacturer treats the first 12 months service like gold, then they ALL don't give two shits about you once 12 months is up. You are lucky it happened when it did. You should be fine.

If you paid with a credit card, many of them will provide double warranty, up to one year, on products. Look into that.

Going through the same thing at this very moment. I have (2) Sony XBR-65X850D 4K TVs. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. Bought both at the same time in December 2016.
On Sunday, the living room tv suddenly developed a ghost image that flickers in the background . Tech supported it with Sony on Sunday, emailed them images of the screen, and just received an email this morning that the replacement TV is on its way.
I love the TVs and of course wish this wouldn't happened. I very satisfied with Sony tech support. Master bedroom TV is flawless. shite happens.

The only suck arse thing is it's mounted above the fireplace and not looking forward to taking it down and putting up the replacement.

ETA: the replacement TV will have a 2 yr warranty. I'm happy with that.

Best Buy. They come to your home and service them. They repaired mine under warranty a few weeks back.

I'd say you can't do better than a replacement given that Sony's are not failing at a high rate.
The replacement should be fine.

I also have the XBR-65X850D 4K. I sent the pics and all the info they asked for, on time...only to get an email from them two days beyond their deadline stating they didn't receive anything from me and therefore their offer had expired. Every time I speak with someone, they're from Manila and it seems the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.

Total opposite from my experience. Years ago, I worked in the tech industry. I pretty much knew from the get go that I it was an LCD isuue but had my fingers crossed that a software fix could solve my problem. I had an American guy, at the level 1 support and the level 2 support. I was also nice as frick and did exactly what they asked in a very timely manner.

The only thing I got a little redundant about was the replacement. Several times I asked if it was a "return repair" replacement TV or a "brand new" replacement. The email I received today specifically stated "brand new". Can't ask for anything better than that.

As soon as he said pics and the email address, I put him on speaker phone and said " what to put in the subject line"? He said, case #.
I said ok, you need me to type anything. He said. Just put see attached. About a second later, I said alright - just emailed it.
He kinda chuckled and said thanks.

That's what I mean by timely in the tech world.

I used AV electronics on Florida Blvd about 6 years ago. Bought a 47" Bravia for ~$2500 and didn't get extended warranty. Screen went out. I think it was around $100 call out but I didn't have to load that bitch up and bring it to them. He actually got Sony to warranty the LCD screen that was a month out of warranty, it was about $1300 for the screen.

We purchased a 65" from Sony several years ago. After about 6 months, it started flickering in and out. Sony was almost impossible to work with. The demanded that I take a picture of the flicker. Can't really do that I kept explaining to them. After two months of calling everyday, they finally sent a rep. out who confirmed my observations. They agreed to send another TV of the same type. What they didn't say is that it was a REFURBISHED one. Anyway, after about another 6 months, the inputs all started failing.

Here we go again. Daily phone calls. They were worse than before. Finally, out of the blue, they send me a 70" new TV. Too big for my room; but they said take it or leave it.

In fairness, it's been working well for a couple of years now. But damn, they sure are difficult to work with.
