Yeah, there's no such thing as an intermittent resistor failure. Ohms or short/open, workie, no workie.

I forgot to mention that intermittent failure takes resistor off of the list of replacement candidates. I don't know everything about car repair; however, I've made my living repairing them for 40 yrs(1980-2020). This is a "textbook blower motor failure on an intermittent basis" case.

I certainly won’t question your knowledge of repairs having worked on vehicles for many years, but I just replaced my second resistor on my F150 in the past 7 years for intermittent failure. Both times it started out with total failure, and then working fine for a week or so. Failure for a day, working fine. Off and on for a few weeks, and then drop out to very low speed. this last time i didn’t get to replace it for about 3 weeks (didn’t need to with nice weather, and it actually started working again for 2-3 days). Replace resistor, works fine again. First one was 4 years in. Just replaced the other day again after three years.

Did you add AC oil?
You add that when you add refrigerant. Best to let a mechanic do it. Or didn’t you know that there was really AC oil?

I hear and believe you. The OP is dealing with a Honda-you have a F150 Ford. The failure rate on the F150 resistor is indeed very high compared to the blower motor. It is a different system and a great example of why it is important that it be properly diagnosed. There are always cases that don't follow the typical "norm". Thanks.

What year? The 8th gens (06-11) are notorious for compressor clutch failures. Regardless, $2500 is ridiculously steep. I paid $80 for a new clutch and did it myself.

The blowers are usually behind the passenger side dash board and pretty easy to replace. Sometimes it’s a lot of parts removal but not very technical. The blowers are fairly inexpensive, it’s just a fan. Get a repair manual or watch some YouTube.

ETA: just watched a quick YouTube and the civic blower looks easy as can be, don’t even have to remove the glove box is exposed underneath of it.

Blower probably caught up. Turn the fan setting on high and hit far under the passenger dash straight up pretty hard a couple quick times. It’ll jump start it. Can usually last awhile. Sometimes on high and a really bumpy street works as well. I’ve been waiting for this technique to stop working for about 2 years before I put money into it.

This.. had one a few years back.. was not blowing.. took that fan out under the dash.. put power to it and it started blowing.. plugged it back in .. it was blowing... reinstalled it and it kept blowing until I got rid of it
