Agree. People typically choose a neighborhood for for family atmosphere and school district. In our hood, I have witnessed parents complain about everything from kids riding dirt bikes to playing in the creek to making too much noise at the pool and basketball/tennis courts.
These are the same people that bitch about why kids are inside playing video games and not outside playing and being a kid.
As has already been said, there is a place for having these kinds of toys and it's not in residential neighborhoods.

A grammatical error on a message board. Someone alert the police.

Agreed. I've come to the conclusion that he's the OP's complaining neighbor!

I agree. Is it worth calling the cops on a 14 year old? Mind you, as far as I'm aware, he's not riding through people's yards etc, he's riding from his house, to the place that he has been allowed to ride in.
I just can't imagine getting so mad about something so trivial that I'd call the police on a 14 year old. Shouldn't adults be worried about more important things?

ATVs don’t belong in neighborhoods. If you want to play on an ATV - buy land and move to the country.
That being said, inbounding the vehicle is a little nuts unless they are on a public road.

There’s an 11 year old kid in my hood who rides a fricking dirt bike on the road. You parents today are crazy as hell.
I got an XR80 when I was 9, in 1981. I put thousands of miles on it before I was 16. I just knew to run and hide from cops.

Who knew the OT was full of a bunch of boot licking bitches! “ATVs are too loud, and I don’t like them in my neighborhood” “You better do what the cop says mister or else” “You’re a bad parent!”
Let your kid do what he wants OP! Eff those cops, eff that neighbor!

quote:In a vacuum not a bit. Typically though it's a group of kids that do this together, and one kid may be respectful and courteous by himself, but... In a pack not so much. I know in my brother's subdivision they had an issue with kids on atvs and dirt bikes roaming the neighborhood and riding in the adjacent fields/pipelines. It all came to a head though when one of the kids ended up hitting a vehicle when he tried to go around the vehicle as it was making a left-hand turn at a stop sign. Kid got gnarled up pretty good and I have no idea if that kid's parents had liability on it to cover the damages. I may not be a huge proponent of this law, but I can definitely understand why it is in place, and why it would be best case to not allow teenagers to operate them in public areas with vehicles, pedestrians, and property.

Don't forget the crying bitch poster that keeps crying aboot "The Noise1 The Noise! Ermagerd, The Noise!"
The Op never said his kid's AYV had a modified exhaust, or was over 25 db. He also never said if the kid had to ride 1/2 mile out of the neighborhood, or 50 yds.
But did crying bitch ask any of that? I may have missed it. If so, please link me. TIA

The simple point wasn’t specifically about four wheelers and dirt bikes. It was about certain types of folks living in neighborhoods that will bitch about most anything involving kids.

Hey it's me, the crying poster.
You're daft if you don't think an ATV registers over 25 DB. However, It does seem like you are in Louisiana so that makes sense. If you aren't, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I never put a db meter on one, but I know mine is quiet.

Wrong again, but i went there a week or so ago.

Well then, I will tell you. I bought into KMB a little over $100. Your furious use of their Kleenex and Maxi pads has shot my stock up, considerably. Thanks.

It's not, but okay.
Just do a quick google next time, you'll not feel so stupid and won't feel obligated to respond with evidence that you're losing your hearing.

You can do better than that.

This could be you OP if you’d stop breaking the law, a-hole!

Have something similar going on in my neighborhood. We have several kids on 4wheelers and golf carts that are unsupervised by their parents. There is a church that has a large piece of property adjacent to the neighborhood and they have begged people to keep their kids off the property.
Recently had a kid that side swiped a car and had to be taken to the hospital. He was very lucky to escape with no major injuries, just lots of bumps, bruises and road rash. Didn't even seem to phase the other parents.
One parent had the audacity to complain that his kids 4wheeler was missing after the kid left it stuck on the church property for a week. The church didn't take it but someone else stole it.
Buy some property if you want your kids to ride 4wheelers without problems. Your kid will lose every collision with any other vehicle on the road.

You should buy him a faster four wheeler

IMHO, probably not. When I will is when they start cutting across my yard after they get comfortable thinking that it's ok.
Also, I won't give a shite either when a kid get hurt or worse while riding riding an illegal vehicle on the street. You play the game, you play the odds. I don't wanna hear any crying that drivers don't look out for ILLEGAL VEHICLES!
