The Weeknd is Canadian. His After Hours til Dawn tour kicked off in July of 2022.

Yup.
It also helps her that she didn't start out overly sexualized like other pop stars, never really went that route, and hasn't gone insane or gone off the deep end with drugs or anything.

My 50 year old wife is a BTS fan. Her and a girlfriend went to Vegas last year for one of their shows.

I'm with you OP, I dont get it either. But I'm also 42 and nowhere near her target audience (or the target audience of any pop culture icon), so I dont give a frick. When I was a teenager, people in their 40s didnt understand why I liked what I liked I'm sure. Who cares. I still listen to the same bands and artists I listened to in my teens and 20s for the most part, and it doesnt affect me one single bit if people are obsessed with Taylor Swift.

She does make me appreciate the fact I grew up in an era when the female pop and rock vocalists were Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter, Olivia Newton-John, Ann Wilson, etc.
Hell, as much as she is an insufferable twat, Barbra Streisand was as talented a singer as has ever been on stage and she was still producing mega-hits when I was a kid.
In this age of autotune and widespread lip-synch performances, it's hard to tell who is actually talented.
