Nostalgia and carrying on a family tradition.
The majority of rides/park features are the exact same as you left it as a child. It’s a time warp to the good times.
It’s a great family bonding experience.
Disclaimer: I’m not Disney obsessed, but I do think it’s cool.

Had my only child at 43. I had never been to Disney. Started taking her when she was 3 and outside of covid we went regularly. Mostly stayed in the RV section of Fort Wilderness. I'm a people watcher and between that and the parks themselves I had a great time. Daughter is 20 now but I'd go back just to hang out. Always had a good time.

Why do some people enjoy fly fishing, or knitting, or bocci?
My wife and kids loves Disney world, and I have grown to enjoy it. Have DVC free and clear and wife plans everything to where we really don’t wait for any rides.
The “disney bubble” is a thing imo.

I don't know what it is but it's incredibly perplexing to me. I know a couple that make it at least once ot twice a year without any kids.

I know some people that travel from hours away 6-8X a year to watch a bunch of college kids play a football game in Baton Rouge.
If you really think about it that’s a lot weirder than going to a theme park with cool rides and nice hotels.

I went to Disney once and have never gone back. But if I lived in Orlando area I might at certain times.

I can spot them down here now without even talking to them. There are a lot of them

know some very otherwise normal people who go to Disney 3-4X per year. I know a guy who owns his own dental practice and his wife is a very attractive model, they are in Disney constantly.
Why don’t you ask them?
