Each automobile shall be limited to the driver, three maskers, and one escort riding therein.(4)The number of marching bands participating in a parade shall be based on the total number of pull units in the parade, as follows: 14 to 27 pull units, a minimum of seven marching bands; 28 to 36 pull units, a minimum of ten marching bands; 37 to 45 pull units, a minimum of 14 marching bands. Parades which are rescheduled because of inclement weather shall not be required to comply with the aforementioned minimum number of marching bands. All persons participating in military bands shall be in uniform.(6)Each Mardi Gras float that uses 120-volt fixed electrical wiring must register annually with the electrical division of the department of safety and permits and have an official annual electrical inspection sticker.(7)The annual fee for an inspection sticker is $10.00 per float. For purposes of this section only, tandem floats are considered one float.(8)The annual registration fee is $40.00 per parade krewe.(9)Inspection stickers will be issued after a licensed electrician has completed an official inspection form which states that the relevant floats have been examined by the petitioner and petitioner certifies that the electrical systems conform to the requirements of this section.(10)The inspection sticker must be installed on the driver's side of the front axle and must be visible for inspection.(11)The fire department will inspect each float for the presence of the electrical inspection sticker during the formation area inspection immediately prior to the start of the parade. Any float that does not have a valid sticker will be withdrawn from the parade.(12)Every Mardi Gras float and minifloat must conform to the following electrical requirements:(a)All wiring must be over-current protected with circuit breakers meeting the minimum requirements of NFPA 70, Article 240: National Electrical Code.
Example: 15-amp circuit breakers for 14-gauge wiring or 20-amp circuit breakers for 12-gauge wiring.

Man just a few days ago when I was trying to explain how a tragedy can ruin a rider’s parade, I caught hell. It’s amazing how the tune changed when it’s Endymion that gets cancelled halfway through.

That's a single wide turn. That's not an "S" with a tandem float filled with people across a neutral ground filled with people and into a lane with cars parked on the shoulder.

Okay. The same way they navigate Canal at St. Charles on their normal route.

It's a goddamned crime scene at this point. They have to investigate and preserve it as much as possible. You can't just scoot right by on the side.

meh, break out some yellow tape and call it a day, push the crowds off of that block. It’s not like they have evidence to look for on the ground

It’s moot now but is logistically possible. All the floats lake side of broad could have crossed over at the giant open intersection at Canal and Broad . The remaining floats river side of broad could have used the other 2 lanes on canal like they probably did anyway.

Reminds me of the guy who was 'hit by the train' leaving work.

I'm the a-hole because in a meeting I asked if it jumped off the tracks and got his truck, then suggested that we should put really loud horns on them.

For very, very dark reasons, I laugh at this.

There’s a reason they had cow catchers

Get off your high horse, the circumstances were completely different. For nyx, there was zero place for the floats to go to get back on the route. It’s asinine they didn’t allow the Endymion floats to divert off and rejoin the route, or at the very least have the floats brought to the convention center where they could at least parade in there.

If someone dies at your parade it probably should be canceled tbh

Cancelling the parade isn’t bringing back the deceased, and is needlessly robbing the spectators of joy and the riders of what they paid to do.
The extravaganza was happening anyway, let them hold the remainder of the parade in the convention center.

I get it. It fricking sucks for everyone who’s paid to be a part and for those who were looking to have a fun night.

But if someone dies that overshadows everything else. Surprised it doesn’t happen more often tbh
