people should stop giving money. if you want to be charitable, offer food. if they refuse - they arent hungry enough.

Last thing cities should do is spend MORE money to remove the problem. Just stop giving to these people.

I give rarely, but I do sometimes. If a little kid or dog is there I will muster up a dollar.

Saw a sign recently that said "I'm a good dude who made some bad decisions. I have no family to help me. $38 for a motel room. Anything helps."

Guy was dressed in decent clothes but they hadn't been washed in weeks obviously. I gave him a $5.

sometimes the act of giving, from a selfish viewpoint, makes you feel better about your day.

Win...win

I don't give money to homeless. If I have some extra food in my car that I didn't want, I'll give it to them, but why should I give them money?

A buddy of mine asked a bum in downtown LA where he slept at night. The bum said he had a house in the San Fernando Valley. One in Ft. Worth tried to buy $150,000 dollars in mutual funds. I beluve that story.

I hardly ever do, but I saw a guy last week with a sign that said "why lie, I need a beer." I gave him a few bucks.

Thats just his marketing gimmick. you would be surprised how much the guys with signs like that make over the others.

I like the signs that say, "bet you cant hit me with a quarter"

I could tell you a long scarey funny story. Give money or dont give money. I strongly advise against offering to buy food. That can really bite you in the arse. I almost got aids and or eaten by a pit bull bc I bought a panhandler a meal.

I give them the middle finger... They choose that lifestyle. I pay enough taxes for freeloaders.

Probably because he has burnt bridges with his family for being an addict. Tough love by family. They have done everything to help him and he wouldn't help himself.

From the article:

Claim to fame: "Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night because some guy was stealing [my friend] Emily's purse, so I broke a bottle of whiskey over his head. But he still ran off with it. Then there was no more whiskey."

Regulate and tax panhandling like some cities who require a license to panhandle. Or start fining people who give to panhandlers to create a deterrent. Although that might make some people more likely to give.
