Hey, Funky...
one of your Royal Terns is banded!
Let me know if you would like to report it and I can get you started?

A this is the egg picture iNat DID identify as north American wheel bug...I'm guessing it helped that there were hatchlings in the photo
Well, I think it was last year when I saw a young wheel bug a little bigger than the ones in your pic, and it didn't even give me it as a suggestion. Who knows?
Here's a younger Eastern Leaf-footed BugI saw a few weeks ago. It is similar to the juvenile wheel bugs, but the rear legs give it away:

Some terrific photos! As someone else mentioned, Peveto Woods west of Holly Beach, as well as Sabine Wetland Walkway are great places to get photos of the migrants, especially in the spring in late April and May. I have tons of photos from those areas but can't post without doing some editing. They have watermarks that would disclose my identity!

USGS bird banding
They serve as a clearing house of sorts for resighting reports of banded birds.
They will notify the researcher and then you would normally be provided with some background such as when and where the bird was initially captured and banded.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Just curious, what camera/lens are you using for those shots?

Finally got a shot of Green Heron myself over the weekend (Beckley Creek Park)
Green Herons are really cool to watch when they are feeding. Some mornings I will sit at the pond beside my house and watch them for hours.

thanks brother. I submitted. You can only see 'J1J' printed on the band, and tag number field only allows you to enter numbers, so I put '9999-'99999' in there and put some notes in the comments. But I attached some photos.

and is a moorhen the same as a common gallinule?
Yes, the AOU changed the official common name from Common Moorhen to Common Gallinule a decade or so back. It looks like they declared our Western Hemisphere birds a separate species from those in Europe and Africa, too.
