This is how conspiracists reel people in...using a tiny truth to create a larger conspiracy.
Cloud seeding is no secret, as you know. It can actually be a very beneficial science when dealing with arid climates and has been around for a good long time. Oddly, a LOT of people have no idea that cloud seeding exists.
Some nutjob, or congresswoman, goes viral accusing the federal government of creating a hurricane in order to suppress votes for a candidate. The message is immediately amplified by social media. People with doubt, who are unaware of cloud seeding, are faced with the "fact" that the government can control weather, here's an example...check out this cloud seeding! They can make it rain! The doubtful person, lacking critical thinking skills (or common sense), suddenly feels the hurricane story could be true because of cloud seeding.
You don't even need to be "dumb" to fall for this stuff. You just have to lack the curiosity to fact check and lack an understanding of how the internet/social media works. Seeing a lot of your social media diet containing posts about something such as a man-made hurricane doesn't necessarily make it true, it just means the algorithms think you'll engage and create ad revenue.

Social media is a detrement to society and that's an understatement. I put on a fireworks show and launched 700 shells in 4 minutes. The sky was literally on fire and a waterfall of shell fragments rained out of the sky and half the people were staring at a phone.
I've seen mothers who can't take their phone out of their face to give their kids attention. Its just sad
3 years ago me and my wife made a deal. I quit a 10 year daily beer habit and she deleted all social media. Guess who had the harder time quitting lol. Best deal I've ever made.

Yeah, this is what always cracks me up. They scream for everything to be privatized and for profit and how the government can't do anything right. Then they'll tell me the government is behind a vast conspiracy to kill 80% of the population with vaccines.

There are a lot of conspiracies that turned out to be true. Government and corporations work hand in hand to hide a lot of shite. But there's a difference between what's logically possible and what most of the politards blindly believe.
