Do you work somewhere like Abercrombie?
This sounds like a retail clothing policy

In my labor and employment law practice, I've seen a ton of FB flops. Woman shows off a picture of the company's new conference room on FB - too bad the board in the background had confidential information written on it.
"Look who visited today" - yea, a candidate for a job who didn't want his current employer to know he was out hunting for a new one.
Restaurant posts a picture of some food, keen eyed observer sees a fly on one of the items that the photographer didn't catch.
This kind of stuff happens fairly regularly.

My friend's wife works for a male dentist. He is constantly updating the practice's FB page with pictures of his hygienist like they're his hoes. Arms around their shoulders and photo bombing them by pretending to do crazy shite behind them. How my buddy hasn't killed that douche is beyond me.

I'm not saying this is the case with you, but I don't understand people who say this as if it is a badge of honor.
More often than not, if you've never used Facebook and never will, you're likely underdeveloped socially. Again, there are exceptions, but someone who's never used it and can't envision a situation where he or she would do so probably has social issues. They're the equivalent of a homeschooled child - sure there are some that turn out fine, but most are weird AF.
ETA: Let me be clear - you don't need to be on Facebook in order to have a normal social life, but not trying it and a commitment to never try it is a bit strange.

I don't understand. If you care about what they had for breakfast then you should be all about social media.

If it is company policy and you happen to be in the background of a pic or it shows your workplace and employees as a group without naming or featuring you, no big deal IMO. You are their employee after all. If they are forcing you to be the central focus of a photo or they want to plaster your name all over the post, that might be a problem worthy of discussion.

I work at a country club. Golf, tennis, pool and a restaurant.
For instance, boss man will run around snapping pictures of members during golf events, eating, taking a lesson, etc. etc.
Had me thinking last night, I am not OK with this being public material on Facebook.

No. Seems like they would have to get your permission to use your picture unless it's a family business maybe.

Exactly. Obviously, he asks whoever if he can take a picture, but seldom does he say, 'Hey, can I take a picture and post it on Facebook?'

I'd imagine that giving someone consent to take the picture in the first place gives them permission to use it how they see fit, within reason. I'm not sure where a post on a Facebook wall falls with respect to commercial use, but it probably wouldn't take much effort to find out your "rights." It is also likely that you gave permission for your company to use your image and likeness for commercial use when you signed your employment paperwork, so you may be wasting your time.

I work in the media and the chicks I work with do this stuff all the time. Every once in awhile I'll get forced to do it, but I'm somewhat a recognized face where I live since my department is sports, so I just let it happen because it sometimes make it seem like I'm more personable I guess.
I'm also a damn good looking guy and any milfs out there need to know what's up.

Social media is still a viable marketing tool for many businesses.

My pic was used on the company website (Cruise West) in the 90's and it didn't bother me. I wasn't notified it would happen
