So what are your viewpoints on where the Cajun area is?

My wife is a Lafayette area native and she is definitely not of the “below I-10” mindset. Just curious. Only part of Louisiana that I lived in is BR and that’s not Cajun apparently

The heart of Cajun prairie is Evangeline parish. The rest is inconsequential.

Lafayette is the big city of Cajun country. Evangeline Parish the real center of it though.

Apparently some people say there are Cajuns in Texas? I thought it was a Louisiana only thing

Acadiana seems way big on that map IMO. All around. Except to the south.

I predict egos will play a large part in this, but for S&G I’ll give you my 2 cents. Anywhere where speaking Cajun French was a way of every day life say up to mid 20th century or so, which would include All of Acadiana obviously, East to New Roads, up to Avoyelles, down the Mississippi River Parishes on the west, and east including Assension, St Charles, St John, except EBRP, and down to Houma. Parishes surrounding NOLA are a mix of Creole predominantly and Cajun as well. All spoke a variant of Cajun French however up to mid 20th century. Cajuns spread out a long time ago, but I think the best way to see where it begins and ends is in its cultural influences and language. It’s not just in Lafayette.

How so? It’s just across the river from a Florida parish (EBR)
