No

ETA: You certainly have a bunch of definitive opinions for things you have no experience with.
I would think the majority of humans would agree with what you quoted. Losing a parent unexpectedly vs losing one expectedly(old age, sickness) is quite different.
Even losing one at 15 you still are missing out on some formative years there.

I already gave what I thought was pretty solid reasoning for the difference earlier in the thread.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less about which is worst.

Man, this thread is like a train wreck.

This woman was abducted in her home after her ex broke in and held her and her young children at gunpoint yesterday in BR.
The comments on the article are in awful taste, and not nearly being as defended as if it was the same situation but a young/pretty girl.
The double standard is quite interesting.

Yea, but that was not Darth's situation.

No, my point is if you are speaking biologically, neither can be replaced. However, the roles of both a mother, as well as parents, can be replaced.
Well the original argument was with Darth (I think) and he stated this:
quote:
I would not say that someone you've spent over half your life with and raised kids with is replaceable.
To which I said in a biological sense they are replaceable in so much that you can always get a new SO and raise children with that person, but you can never replace your biological parents.
And I'm not even on either side of this argument. They only light I am shedding onto this subject is that in the course of life you can only have 2 biological parents but you may have hundreds of SO that you can raise children with.

as i touched on earlier, losing elderly parents(in his case a grandparent) comes much easier than a parent in their "prime".

Not when you're 15 I'd imagine. And not when that parent was all you had.
It totally fricked me up to be perfectly honest. She and my older brother (he was 16) were the only close family I had left by this point. There's a lot more to the story but, yeah, it royally fricked me up for a long time.

Racist gonna racist I suppose. That doesn't really have anything to do with bride to be compared to woodchipper guy though.

was she killed?
They haven't found her as far as I know, but either way, that's why I said "if the same situation.."

I don't think biological means what you think it does.

I can read, but I haven't spent my entire day on the OT, so I can't just snap my fingers and find the post you were referring to amidst an 11 page thread.

Not surprised it'd get bad in the responses. I'm sure there's some race and class jabs. Being in south LA doesn't exactly help, either.
