So Purdue Pharma paid off the FDA, right?

In order to convince them to tell people that opioids weren’t addictive?
Seems pretty fricking common sense to me that something with the same qualities as morphine or heroin would be addictive.
Furthermore, I wonder just how many other times that’s happened and with what drugs?

No
It is possible that they paid off strategic members of Congress to squash any federal investigations

Talk about a random thought. How high on opioids are you?

He's probably watching The Pharmacist on Netflix

Watching that Netflix document right now about the Schneider family’s crusade against the epidemic.

That’s more likely. These frickers own our government/ politicians, and any attempt to curtail their power is communism/socialism/Marxism. So it’s probably not gonna happen.

The problem really started when Obama made Darvocet illegal. It was a very mild opiate that was prescribed for minor but persistent pain. But the idiot's in Washington that have no business in medical matters said that it had no medical benefit. So they banned it. People in pain switched from the very mild Darvocet to the heavier Vicodin and Percocet. This is when they got hooked, really.

I’m sure that’s closer to the mark, but with the strenuous hoops those companies have to jump through with the FDA, it would stand to reason that they were paid off too. Would love to know which ones they paid off.

I would say absolutely the FDA was paid off, or totally blind. To get approval there's years of clinical trials that have to pass in multiple stages to gain FDA approval. Really hard to believe that all of those trials and results were legit.

FDA deserves alot of blame for alot of things.
Purdue pharma lied, had their own research that proved they were wrong, and continued lying.
That's criminal.

My guess is a majority, like all of them.

This is a situation where I think MJ can actually help.

Which committee in Congress provides overwatch on things like this?

This.
And it happens every day in every sector (transportation, O&G, pharma)
25k for a breakfast with a senator now or days (of course to their “campaign fund”

It’s just an all around shitty situation with almost everyone involved being partially responsible.
One big problem is pain is a subjective measurement and pain relief meds affect people differently for physiological and psychological reasons. Does anyone really think, “describe your pain on a scale of 1-10” isn’t going to lead to problems?
Also, in the trials consumption is controlled, so participants can’t just pop them at will—as well as snort/inject/smoke—or take more than prescribed. It’s hard to monitor “addictive tendencies” in that scenario.

They knew what they were doing. By design. Create an epidemic and they all profit. It was Her turn.
