Prayers sent. My mom is in her second go-round with breast cancer in Houston. MD Anderson is the cancer machine. If you are anywhere in the world, with unlimited resources and you find out you have cancer - you go to MDA. It’s been 2 1/2 years for her since her original doctor gave her 6 months to live.
MDA is the shite. Same deal with my wife, except it was uterine cancer and they gave her 3 to 6 months here in BR. Cashed in some retirement $ and made the trip to Houston. 12 & 1/2 years later, she is still kicking. That place is amazing.

I was diagnosed with Stage II colon cancer in 2000. Had surgery to remove half my colon and went through chemo for six months.
I'm fully recovered and have been living a normal life for the past 20 years.

My dad died of this Stage 4 when found. Colon, moved to liver, and something else can't remember. Sucks so much. I wish your father the best of luck.
One thing I did was buy him an ipad when he was diagnosed as Chemo is long and boring. Also normal silverware messed with his tastebuds once he started chemo and we ended up getting the plastic silverware you'd use for camping and that helped.

You need to get tested yourself starting at age 40. MD Anderson is the best place to be. Prayers sent up for your dad.
My brother is 54. He didn’t get his scope done and had a major tumor that blocked his colon. The cancer had already spread to his lungs and liver. Check into the immunotherapy treatment.

Very sorry to hear this
Hoping for the best
May I ask if your father had a colonoscopy performed in years past?

quote:That is so not true. I use PH strips and monitor/control my ph all the darn time.
MD Anderson also disagrees and says: “The alkaline diet is based on the theory that eating certain foods can change the body’s acid levels, also called the pH levels. There’s no way the foods you eat can alter the pH level of your blood. The body’s pH is a very tightly regulated system.[i] If you change your diet, there’s no way you could ever eat enough that it really impacts your blood.

Tigermite,
Your worrying about what you and or he and or they might have done is NOW a waste of your time. I've been there, and decided it wasn't a good use of my time, nor did it deserve a place in my mind.
Right now, take the time you have and enjoy it. Make things better, or as good as they can be.
The past is gone. Not worth fussing over. Take yourself and your Dad through the rest of your lives together and cherish the time you have left.

haven’t seen one patient in my 5 years here with a terminal disease that was on a nutrient rich plant based diet. I simply suggested it is something for him to research.
My cousin, who was a vegan just died of breast cancer a year ago.

Was in your shoes about 3 years ago. My Dad at the time was 63, I believe. Colon cancer with mets to liver. He had surgery to remove about 40% of his colon (no ostomy bag, luckily), and had about 50%, or 1 entire lobe, of his liver removed. Did about 10 months of chemo. He had a scan in December, was all clear, and this scan in April 2020 showed a lesion that was suspicous. Biopsy confirmed cancer, and he just had his second liver resection today at Tulane. I assume he will have chemo in about a month. If you met the man this morning before surgery, you would never know he had cancer...still working and looks great.
It's a trying time, for sure. I broke down the day he called me in 2017 when he said stage 4. Like you, my father is my idol, and it killed me to hear that "C" word. But his positive attitude and commitment to keep living a normal life has made the last 3 years very easy for all of my family. You and your father have to have faith in a curative path, because it is possible and will give you strength to wake up each day with a positive outlook. Spend time with him and pray....go to a church or just a quiet place outside and reflect...you would be surprise how calming reflection/prayer is when you can clear your head.
We thought my Dad was cured after his scan in December, but this is just a slight bump in the road to recovery. I'm confident that he will beat this...medicine has made big strides in the last 5 years. I will say a prayer for your dad, you, and your family this week. You're not alone and neither is he. Take it 1 week at a time.

My brother was 26 and diagnosed with leukemia and went to MD Anderson and he’s alive and well and thriving in life.
That place is the pinnacle of modern medicine and you absolutely will receive the best care we humans know how to give one another
