I'm in that boat with you. I shattered my right leg almost 5 years ago and squatting was nonexistent for years. I finally began again about a year ago and 135 isn't bad, but 225 is about one rep and I'm done.

that sucks. You always hope a small change to form or something as simple as changing shoes can help. Good luck
Thanks I need it. It has been affecting my OHP as hell

I did that for a while then went to wrestling shoes with a zero drop so I could have more grip. Don't lace up over the ankle though
I am thinking about picking up a pair just as my new gym shoes. They seem like the perfect shoe for lifting.

I'd say 75% of the people on earth can't do 225 ten times.
Well most of America is a bunch of fatasses who can't even get into a squatting position. 1.5 billion people in the world can't afford food, so its safe to say they can't squat 225 ten times, and all those tiny asians probably couldn't either.

Don't listen to them...half these guys squat that much because they go home and thrust some Iberville Parish sweathog 2-3x/week.

I'd say 75% of people couldn't do an air squat

It's like my boss the other day bragging that he can bench 215lbs
My bench is and always has been weak. I could maybe do one rep at 215. And I lift regularly.

Please for the love of beer, boobs, and chocolate cake tell me you are an old man. If you are under 58 years old you should just move to France and give up.

Screw the haters op. Good job getting back in there.

I was the same way last year. Got back into it and was doing a typical 10-8-6 routine starting at a plate and adding 20 lbs between sets. My legs ached for days. Now I've been doing 5x5 for about 3 weeks and just this past week got to a plate in squats. Starting slow is the way to go if you haven't been doing it in years.

I do squat jumps in lieu of squats since I have a bad back

Like 99% of population can't bench 225 ten times

1RM for 225x10 is 300.
Seems high. We were always taught every rep add 5 pounds. So 225x10 would be 270.

Op frick everybody making fun of you in this thread. If it was so easy then how come so few in the gym are doing true arse to grass squats?
90% of the people in this thread talking shite couldn't do it

Let me get this straight, everyone here criticizes people for not working out or being sedentary, then they make fun of people when they comment about how getting in/ back into it feels? Why is it that the same person who might help someone struggling to, let's say change a tire, become complete dicks to people just getting started when they are in the gym?
