I know that NOLA will always and forever be king. But being from Mobile I am proud of our tradition. I have family all around the coast so I’ve done them all and place Mobile at #2. I think some of our big parades can at least compare to NOLA unlike some of the others I’ve been to. What says the OT?

ETA: This isn’t designed as a pissing match, I just know Mobile gets the red-headed stepchild treatment.

I went to the MOT parade Saturday. Way too damn short. They need to combine some of the Mobile parades to make it worth the trip to Mobile.

I went last year and had fun. This years seemed pretty lame and yes too short. I agree with your assessment

Went to Mobile about 15 years ago. Very family and kid friendly plus Moonpies. I'd do it again over that NO trash anytime. Now Mamou, that was a good time.

Chalmette 2006 had a better Mardi Gras than Mobile. Get out of here with that horse shite.

I liked it, not enough to travel to Mobile for it if that is the only attraction. When I had friends that lived in Mobile I would visit them during Mardi Gras to go to a parade or two.

I also think TulaneLSU would appreciate the Mobile Mardi Gras. It has the history and is clean and family friendly. Last night he was raving about Isis in Kenner and his description of it sounded like what I experienced in Mobile.

I don't see it as a tourist attraction like NOLA's though. I can't see people flying in to go to Mobile or Kenner Mardi Gras.

A lot of LA folk crap on Mobile because it isn't as big or crazy but that's what makes it attractive to people like myself and families. It's relaxing, you don't have to keep your head on a swivel worried about getting robbed, sucker punched or thrown under a float. Don't have to worry about gunshots into the crowds.

tbh Jefferson Parish always wanted to be the family friendly Mardi Gras but I definitely think Mobile wins out over Jefferson Parish as #1 family friendly Mardi Gras.

ETA: you won't see threads like this about Mobile: "Best Mardi gras parade altercation you have seen" "Baw trying to throw down with some Thoth riders"

I went to one on Tuesday and Thursday nights and neither one had anyone there. The floats and stuff were nice.

This just isn't true, at least not a lot of places in New Orleans. I grew up in Mobile, I live in New Orleans now. I've done both numerous times. I prefer the tailgating on the route approach here.

Has anyone been ran over by a float there? Or building collapse?
