i dunno about intimidated but i am less likely to approach super fricking hot girls because i perceive them as taken or out of my league (which they are). so maybe i am intimidated,
at the same time, i wouldnt have any problems carrying on a conversation with them or anything

No. I have noticed that guys get intimidated by mentally strong women and women that are actually sarcastic (<0.01%). Conversations intimidate men more than looks.
If you can dominate one of those headstrong chicks in a conversation, the panties fall on the floor.

Disagree on the percentage. I think most guys are too shy to be sarcastic towards any woman, in fear of fricking it up.

I do it all of the time IRL. You have a 50/50 shot of getting in them drawers if you work it right. If not, you are gonna get hit or a drink thrown on you, but you've gotta take the good with the bad

Reminds me of a story I tell on myself. A bunch of us were out one night on Sunset. Krista Allen (Baywatch babe, dated George Clooney, etc.) had joined our table because she knew one of the girls with our group. She started whining about men not asking her out and how horrible it was.
I said, "I'll take you out."
She said, "I'm not that desperate yet."

Absolutely. I know many women like this. Strong, intelligent, beautiful women often have a vibe about them that men, are intimidated by and cower from approaching. This generally applies less the older guys get, but this certainly applies to girls when they're in high school and college. Some women are just too intelligent to be impressed by the dumbasses and are so pretty that the nerds are generally scared to approach them. They have a vibe that a lot of guys describe as "intense". They also tend to spend more time working or studying and less time getting plastered in bars or at parties.
I know several such women, including my SO.
Generally, they have to meet some unbelievably confident SOB who can make them laugh, and they have to meet them somewhere they normally go like a coffee shop or the dog park or something. They're tough to find, tough to catch, and even tougher to keep.
