What’s the problem with mask anyway? Most of your pudgy fricksticks live in a house that looks like your neighbors and it’s fair to say a perfectly fitted n95 will hide you and the wife’s double chin. Do your in laws on an emphysema tank a solid and mask up. This delta variant doesn’t age discriminate

So why did the flu disappear then? I hear people that make identical arguments to what you're making right now state that masks are the reasons the flu was nonexistent. But somehow covid carried on. I'm open minded, I'm just trying to marry those 2 contradictory explanations.
And surgeons don't wear masks that they ghetto rig at their houses. This entire pandemic I haven't heard one public health official tell anyone what type or style their masks need to be. It's just "wear a mask". My doubts are very high that most people wore masks which were remotely effective.

Even if the masks were 100% effective (which we know they are not, by a long shot) there are many annoying people who wear them below their nose 100% of the time. There's no way to get any type of good result as long as a major segment of the population is too ignorant to wear them properly. I see these people at every public place in town. It's like fingers on a chalkboard to me. Either wear them right or not at all.
Lord Fauci himself said (in one of his many conflicting pronouncements) that masks protect others from being infected, not the wearer. Masks are a total waste of time given our ignorant population.
