I need to install one of these and the fireplace company in Lafayette just told me they do not offer this service. It is two screens that sit in a track and have handles to pull apart to put wood in the fireplace, but it closes when burning and has tiny chainmail like stuff to keep embers from entering the living room. Quick Amazon search didn't heap. Anyone know where I can find this?

Well aren't you just so fancy with your wood burning fireplace.

I used to have a wood burning fireplace. It's such a shame that these screens block so much of the heat that a fire place provides. When I was young, my mother would just put a large, mostly non-flammable rug in front of the fireplace to catch the embers.

Because the gas line was disconnected and I don’t feel like having it hooked back up for the 3 times a year we’ll use it

Maybe he isn’t a sissy and can build a fire like a real man.

Bamboo makes some awesome explosions when burning. So get the extra heavy duty ember screen

Mine is glass on the outside, 2 panels, fold out. Then, it has the set up with the chainmail stuff that you open and close. I don't know if it's old, but that chain crap sucks, gets very hard to pull back and forth. Like it sticks. I think it's old.

You might be better off with one of those simple one piece screens you simply take off to set fire, then place back on hearth when it's started as a guard. I think you can get those at Home Depot.

If you want the other thing, probably a fireplace specialty store and you'll need measurements of the opening.

We’re gonna do the chain mail and a decorative one outside of it. My wife is a bit of a worrier

Wait, really? Like can I burn it inside or should I do it outside?

Who will you sue when you cause smoke damage by burning bamboo inside?

Yeah, the screens do look cheaper for sure. I would think you would need measurements of the opening. Mine was already installed when we moved in. There are probably contractors that install them. I'm sure they're super cheap and won't charge much at all.
