Yeah, you said you were leaning "yes." We all know it was going to be a trash hole in 5 years. Then a storm hits and it gets abandoned.

Thank you. There are perfectly good trash hole casinos in Harvey and Kenner for those interested

the map of the yes and no votes will be very telling

Slidell yes voters have a right to be pissed if Mandeville and Covington no voters canceled them out

You're so right. How can St. Tammany be so blind to see how much Harrah's has improved New Orleans!?!

Well Harrahs has a Casino and hotel and without that the Four Seasons would have never come and without the Four Seasons Harrahs wouldn’t be building another hotel on top of the existing casino.

So you tell me.

The prediction was that it would be the opposite of this.

That was the concern, but I dont know that it will end up like this. I'm in the west and nobody in my neighborhood I spoke with was a "yes.'

I wholeheartedly support the idea of a West St. Tammany parish.

IIRC Slidell voted it down once so they moved the location outside the city limits and tried to get the parish to approve it.

There was a good bit of people that were for it...wasn't a popular opinion.

No's were pretty vocal, where as the Yes's didn't advertise.

Looking like 37% popular. An arse-kicking.

Question that must be asked: What big players are shitting bricks tonight because they're highly leveraged on this deal that fell through.

More money was actually poured in to kill it by politically connected others who want that last casino license.

They can't be terribly bright if they thought this would pass.

If they thought the fix was in. Somebody promised to deliver the votes and didn't come through.

So it looks likes the folks in Slidell had better turnout than western St. Tammany. If so, I’m glad it worked out that way because the casino would have a direct impact on Slidell and IMO it’s only fair they get more say.

Early polling showed that the parish was split from east to west. Voters in the eastern part of St. Tammany, where the casino would be built, were generally against it. Voters further away from the casino were largely for it.

How would the fix be in? In St. Tammany, if they want something to pass after getting voted down twice, they wait for an uneventful election on an LSU home game Saturday. Then, poof, the millage passes.
