We just got a divorce. Drastic measures, but we both immediately had a better nights sleep.

I do have a couple friends who have the CPAP, and yes it works for them. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it is, but apparently it saved their marriages. So, I guess it worked depending on your definition of happiness.

I posted earlier in this thread. Sleep apnea machines have come a long way. My current mask is the Philips Dreamwear.

Nothing going up your nose, nothing covering most of your face. Overall about as comfortable as you can get.

My sleep test was done at home

Do you start by going to see your primary care doctor or can you do the virtual doctor / at home test online website??

Mine was done at home as well. I mentioned in my annual check up that my wife thought I was breathing funny in my sleep. My PCP ordered a sleep study. Sleep study center contacted me and set up an appt (it was like 8PM on Wed.) at thier office. I went in got fitted for the mask, the tech showed me how to set up everything. I wore it and turned it back in the next night. Really easy. I have a very mild case of sleep apnea. Ended up getting the machine and I sleep great.

interesting that some nights i'll have .5 apnea events per hour (or less) and some i'll have 2-3.

I had a home sleep study done and they told me I didn’t have sleep apnea because I only had 3 disturbances per hour and they required 5 per hour for a diagnosis. I was pissed because clearly the disturbances were causing my morning issues with brain fog and shortness of breath.
Doing an in-person sleepy study next month and pushing hard for a cpap. Visited a heart specialist and had a full work up with a clean bill of health. It’s gotta be sleep apnea.

thing for me is I cannot sleep on my back, I roll through the night like I'm on a rotisserie spit, broke my back a few years ago and had to sleep on my back for a few weeks, that was almost as bad as the pain

I don't sleep on my back either. I talked to my doctor about it and she said that it was no problem that I slept on my stomach while using a CPAP, as long as it doesn't interfere with my mask. Which, for me at least, it doesn't.

It's a pain to get used to, but I am incapable of sleeping in a bed without a CPAP machine.

Been sleeping with a CPAP since 2010. Before that if I sat down I would fall asleep. It made a world of difference in how I feel now

Resmed AirFit P30 is the new mask I just got - the nasal masks work wonders for me since I'm a side sleeper and the face masks push against my jaw and irritate. I like the hose being at the top of the mask too, just hang it up over the headboard and it's out of the way the whole night.

How come? I just got a DreamStation in April and so far it's been great. Granted this is my first machine.

I'm using nasal pillows and don't mind using it at all.

Has a lot to do with the shape of your jaw and soft palate per my sleep study doctor.

I'm 6'0" 190 and I have it. One of my sisters also has it and she is about 5'8" 125.

Quick question. I am not reading through the entire thread to find out.

I had a sleep study a couple years ago, and I happen to not snore that night at all, and did not have any apnea. I know, and my wife has told me that I snore every night, and have a lot of apnea.

My question is, do you have to have a cpap prescribed to you by a dr, or can I just go buy one. I don't need another sleep study imo. How much do they cost? Does insurance cover one? Which one should I get if I do in fact get one?

Phillips just issued a recall for older Dreamstations.

He probably said that due to the recent recalls on them due to dangerous mold. Seriously, look it up.

Yes

It goes back to your childhood, and it’s diet, nose breathing, and tongue posture.

Get those right, and you’ll have good bone growth. Large jaws with good forward growth. Get it wrong, and you’ll end up with asymmetrical facial features, a recessed jaw, and a compromised airway.
