No. That would be admitting I did something wrong when I haven't.
If black people in this country want to sue the people that made them slaves they need to start in Africa.
And whoever downvotes is just denying facts.

I'd like to think that I would have been vehemently anti-slavery had I been raised in the early 19th or 18th century, but it is impossible to tell. The social norms of the south, well, normalized slavery.
As humans, we like to think there is some kind of inherent goodness in people that allows them to see when true injustice takes place, but that just isn't the case. People find comfort living within the same type of system in which they were raised.
Case in point, slavery throughout human history. Some of the earliest writings (mesopotamia) we have on record make reference to slaves. Egypt, Mongolia, Rome, India, China, England, Greece, France, Persia, Germany and likely every other nation/state with any kind of power had slaves at multiple points in their existence. I can definitely see how people of the 1800's could argue their case and convince themselves it is ok.
From a modern perspective, the Americans of that time were immoral and cruel due to practicing slavery, but we can't look at a moment in history from a modern perspective. If we don't think of something in the context of the time in which it happened, then we will never understand it and will make grand assumptions.
So, with all of that considered, I don't see how we can make a logical case for reparations for this group, but not that group. I would be willing to bet a good deal of money that a good 99% of the world population has slavery somewhere in their ancestry.

My ancestors fought for the Union, so I'm still waiting on my hearty handshake and thank you from black people

if it's only $27, seems like you're getting off cheap here.
It's $27 per student, per semester.
Also there are only 4 students that would qualify to receive these benefits.

~190k spread between 4 students. Per semester. Paid for by people who had nothing to do with slavery to people who were not slaves.

If you live in America, you are already blessed by having a strong military and a place to lay your head if you work at a job.
Take personal responsibilities for your actions and work at some honorable goals in life. Then you would not be begging others to bail your arse out of debt after you spent your welfare check on booze and drugs.

So how many American's alive today were slaves or slave owners?
There you go... that's fair. If you seen a slaveowner say yea..

I would gladly pay it if they would shut the frick up from now to forever.

If I had to pay $27, I would pay with $26.99 in pennies. Let the bastards count it and find it one cent short.
Posted on 4/11/19 at 10:32 am to ExtraGravy
Nope. One can only guess how misappropriated this could turn out.

I'll beat you up for $27 instead.

My great great grandfather owned slaved and had a plantation so large there is a town named after him. But my direct side of the family got dicked out of any land that was inherited, so I'm torn.
