We get it. It's 2018 and women can tie their own shoes and make their own bed. They don't need no man.
Until of course it's time to change a flat tire or something difficult like that. (Which in fairness most of these 18-25 year old "men" today would need help with that as well)

What this isn't showing is the number of women who have been 'gifted' half of the equity in a home they didn't buy in the first place. They then use the money from the proceeds of the sale of the home to buy a new one.
That's what divorce does. You're welcome, you Bitch.

As a man, if I were still single and without kid(s), I wouldn’t see the need for a house

Women shouldn't be able to own homes...,period.

I can change a tire. Oh, and I bought my first home when I was 23 with no monetary help. Thank god for no money down in those days!

How did that investment turn out for you?

I sold 3 years ago, post flood (townhouse stayed flood-free). Over the course of 12 years, I made 30K on a 90K investment.

I bought my first home in 07 right before the market crashed. Sold it for a 15k loss 7 years later.

My mother just bought a house. But, she's in her 80'sand widowed.
Don't think this has anything to do with anything other than she outlived my father.

Isn't this an obvious trend to point out? Young women are more educated than their male peers so my guess is when they are still single they have not opportunity for higher paying jobs. Women in their 20s out earn their male peers.

33% over 12 years is 2.5% a year compounded. You could have done better in blue chip dividend stocks and not paid property taxes or maintenance.
What did you actually clear after commission and closing costs?

$296/year and $5,000 to get it ready for sale. Pretty fricking good considering I needed a place to live.

What did you clear after commission and closing cost concessions? And what were your mortgage payments for those 12 years?

30K, including cashing out a refi once. My mortgage was $530/month

But you still have to pay rent so it's not like that money is all free cash flow. Renting is often more expensive than buying. And stocks are historically more volatile than real estate. I lost 40-50% of my stock portfolio value during the '08 recession and maybe 15% of my home's value.
