Since LSUTulane cant be with us....

I recall with great fondness to changing of the foilage that heralded the season of thankfulness,joyfulness and celebration.
I would awaken to the sounds of Mother in the kitchen directing the preparation of that day's meal, as I stumbled downstairs and entered the kitchen the smells of nutmeg and spice cranberries and a roasting Turkey greeted me
Mother would then instruct me to go get freshly chopped wood that the servants had prepared the night before
As we allowed them to spend the first half of the day with their families thankful for their employment. Only our cook Bernice who's ago I could only guess at was with us so early as Mother sat at the table hot cup of chickory and fresh beignets lay in front of her I knew the same awaited me as soon as I completed my chores.

I put on my LLBean boots and outerwear Mother had purchased in Maine during our family vacation the previous summer when we visited our distant relatives up North. I quietly thanked the blessed Saints for Mothers foresight in buying me these strange almost foreign garments.

The cold air struck my face with the force of the Holy Ghost the frigid 62 degrees hastened my retreat back inside as I carried the aforementioned wood indoors to warm cocoa only Mothers love warmed me more.
