At this point we’ve got enough fricking libraries and have pissed enough money away on parks that I cannot safely show my face in without fear of robbery or death. Don’t forget the schools that we can’t use. I’m good with cops getting paid.

It’s a percentage increase. Obviously the more you make, the higher the increase.

And yes, they make higher than “beat” cops. The issue I have is when there is someone in a managerial or supervisor role, but has never done the job (or assumed the risk) themselves.

That's why I never vote for any tax increase, the library is just as bad as Brec
if they haven't spent the money yet my guess is, they just haven't figured out a way to siphon some of that money back to their pockets yet, and that goes for the whole of politics, their all thieves just dressed up nice.

BRPD funding is fricked because they can no longer do it out of St George’s budget and his response is to give them a raise?

The OT: "OMG... cops are so terrible. Why can't we hire competent officers to do the job?"

Also the OT: "WTF - why would we ever increase the pay needed to hire competent officers? This shite's out of control"

Name more that 10. Every career has dead weight. BRPD is no different but the raise is warranted

My issue with paying BRPD is that the BRPD budget has been heavily subsidized by the rest of East BR Parish for years despite not receiving coverage from BRPD.

Paying them more means finding money from somewhere which, surprise surprise, turns out to be from another part of the parish kitty instead of cutting shite from BR’s budget to pay for their own services.

Curious to see if this has the opposite effect as intended.

Intended: attract better people to do a better job policing.

Possible actual: create a lose-lose situation where the old and new police force has something to lose by actually policing and either making a mistake unintentionally or getting sued or rolled on even if they didn't make a mistake, putting their higher salaries at risk, for which the solution is simple: take no risks (half arse it).

I am sure this is going into effect right after St. George is given back all of the money that Sharon Hyphen Broom stole from them.
