Good stuff! Don't forget the Don Drive-in in Bossier, where the mall is now.

The Sunset Drive-In at 70th and Mansfield Rd. I just remebered the putt-putt course behind Shreve City

My dad was in the front office for the Captains so I basically spent all day and night there every summer. Back when the stadium was packed and they were the best team in minor league baseball. My dad still has several Championship rings including a Giants NL one. Saw so many future big league stars come through and have to say probably the highlight of my childhood was spent in that place. Remember it being "state of the art" when built in 86' and now I just want to break down when I see it in the current condition. Lots of good stuff in this thread. Thanks for contributing.

Also, the Giants would come to town to play the Captains from time to time and I got to be a bat boy. Too bad Will Clark ruined my image of him being my hero because he was a real jerk lol

Maybe still happens, but having the Byrd bus pelted by rocks after a win at BTW highschool. Coaches made us put our helmets back on for the bus ride.
I've been on that bus. I remember more than a few bricks and cinderblocks being thrown too.

I loved my youth growing up in the port..

They have a beautifully designed ditch system that allowed you to take off shoots from bayou Pierre to across line avenue while completely underground.. We used bayou Pierre as our interstate travel to get from south highlands to spring lake..

Nortons art gallery was a blast, hiding from the security guards and making forts in the Azeala bushes.

Thrill hill was a right of passage on your bike and a blast during the occasional ice/snow storm.

High school was great.. Different era where getting arrested was difficult and the cops generally had the attitude of kids being kids.. I'm referring to parties and alcohol

The only autograph I've ever gotten in my life was from Rod Beck before one of those games. My dad was too cheap to buy me a baseball so it's on an envelope he had in his pocket.

RIP, Shooter.

Remember when Tanya Tucker locked a half-naked Glenn Campbell out of their hotel room at the Le Bossier?

Cocaine is a helluva drug. Good times...

-The week leading up to the Byrd-Shreve game was always fun.
-Getting paddled as an 8th grader by the Duck Pond sucked.
