Wouldn't that depend on when this was adopted? It may not have always been against codes.

We recently remodeled our bathroom and it's my understanding that it is against code to put shower plumbing into an exterior wall. From what I remember the reason it's against code is due to access issues and the possibility that the piping can freeze in colder weather due to the fact it's in the exterior wall (more of an issue up north).

We sold our house this past summer and before we sold it did a master remodel and kitchen remodel.
While selling the house (sold in 2 days) and inspection. We had to prove a shower liner was installed and work was done by a licensed plumber. Please keep that in mind

That’s different bc you can access the plumbing of those easily under the sinks. With a shower/tub you cannot.

Probably 90+% of houses ever built have the kitchen sink plumbing in a exterior wall since most people like a window above the sink, same for laundry rooms, very common to have plumbing for washer in exterior wall.

This is such a good idea that I can't, for the life of me, figure out why people don't do it. Valves are goddamned cheap.
If I ever build, my plumbing will absolutely be zoned from a manifold in the utility room so I can shut off each individual part of the house from one common location. We do it for our electricity.

It's against code for tub or shower faucets to be located in exterior walls but exceptions can be made if there's an exterior access. It's been La state code for well over 30 years, rightfully so.
