They can also detect gas leaks on pipelines and such. The same chemical that is responsible for attracting buzzards/vultures to decaying animals is also the additive to natural gas that gives it its odor. This was discovered by accident when vultures were repeatedly spotted circling exact areas along pipelines where leaks were occurring.

I just know they show up fast and then seem to just vanish into thin air. I don’t think I’ve ever seen buzzards just chilling.

I'm a professional bird watcher with lifelong credentials in all 48 continental states
and i am quite literally a member of an actual Crow Murder. They all greet me every sun rise and sunset. I feed them in the winter is why
