Our Dermatology clinic where we regularly screen for melanoma among treating other serious medical issues has been shut down, yet the corner store that sells cigarettes, cigarillos, Swisher sweets, optimos and 40s is business as usual. Doesn’t quite add up to me.

There are still TONS of business owners (big and small business) who are driving around town all day and going in and out of peoples homes, apartment complexes, stores, etc. being all around people and performing non essential services (AC workers, house cleaning, home remodeling, basic apartment maintenance, carpet cleaning, painters, etc.)
Truly none of that is “essential” right now if you really want to be serious about it. The thing is people will justify anything as “essential” depending whether or not it affects their personal bank account or their want.

This sort of rubs me wrong as well. There is something wrong with not being able to go to the dentist or to pick out cabinets/granite, but still being able to buy cigarettes and other items, and a store can stay open if they sell at least fritos.

When you need it, everything is essential. Hell, studies have shown that isolation is one of the worst things you can do to a human being, and it drives them insane.

This shutdown.. all the already billion mega businesses.. Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Amazon, etc etc etc are having a fricking field day with this
