The lines that mark out parking spots should every ten minutes or so have nail push out from the pavement into whatever is on top of them, then retract.

People will start parking properly before long.

Left lane drivers should be executed. There. I said it. Everyone was thinking it.

On I10 between Nola and Slidell, it's three lanes the entire way, but you can count on the middle lane always moving quicker than the left lane because of left lane drivers doing 71 mph and not getting over.

Or I love when the middle and right lanes are TOTALLY clear, but you have multiple cars in a row in the left lane.

Yes. After the age of 65 (or whatever) it should be mandatory.

Not a left lane driver myself. I also think requiring CE isn't going to reduce accidents. On the topic of senior citizens, on the whole they're not the people screwing up traffic on your bridges. It's impatient commuters. No class can cure that.

No, and we shouldn't even need a license to drive.

If you can buy a car, you shouldn't have to ask the government for permission to operate it. And don't even start about how roads are government property. They should simply be paths open to the use of whomever wishes to travel them.

While I think it would be a good idea given that half the drivers I see on the road are retarded, it wouldn’t be plausible. It’s just one more thing for taxes to cover in a state that doesn’t have money where it need to go.
I think a more strict driving academy would be easier to implement than a continuous program.

This.

Do any of you watch LivePD? The people driving around fricking shite up have no insurance, a beater car, and a revoked or suspended license. Do you really think they’ll give a frick about CE?

Ask any BR cops you know and they’ll all tell you it’s like nobody has a valid license.

frick that. You think this shite state needs another excuse to extort fees and fines on people?

I’d rather go the other way and have no licensing or registration process.

The taxpayers. I pay taxes. I don’t need to pay another fee to an extortionist middle man to allow me to drive in my own road.

Hey fellow libertarian

Amazing how many people are perfectly fine with paying the government for permission to do so many things.

Whenever I have the gun control debate, someone usually says "well you need a license to drive, to fish, to run a lemonade stand, why not to have a gun?"

And I always reply that it's the first part that's screwed up.

As stated by others most accidents aren't caused by forgetting or not knowing the rules of the road, but by bad driving habits. My younger brother spent the majority of his 20's with no drivers licence because he was incapable of not fiddling with his phone while driving. He got into 3 separate single car accidents in a 5 year period and rear ended 3 people in that same time frame. He's gotten better these past few years, but he still sideswiped a mailbox and destroyed his side mirror last week.He once told me that driving was boring and he was such a good driver that he could do both.

From the countless accident i have seen in person 95% of the accidents were caused by inattentiveness and impatience. The few that i have seen that were probably caused by not knowing the rules of the road involved right of ways (i.e. Roundabouts)

Fun fact: The last of the 3 cars my Brother totaled happened because he plowed into one of those trucks with the flashing arrow on the interstate going 50 MPH in broad daylight (The truck was stopped). He claimed it was because a van was in front of him blocking his vision and changed lanes without slowing down leaving him with no stopping time. I don't believe it happened exactly that way. Way too convenient and sounds like the kind of excuse he'd make for something like that. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt.

Just renewed my license and it’s now good for 6 years. I think it’s a good idea when you get up in age.

Nope...all this would be is a driving academy’s business protection plan.

If it would pass, it may be time for me to start a driving school.

But, I would support requirements that individuals take written and road tests with renewals after so many years or major incident or accident. Just like the way they check your vision if you go in for a renewal.

best case scenario is nobody is allowed to drive but me.
second best is an IQ test along with the driving test.
third best is the renewal test as you describe
