Such as, extremely high down to up ratio anchors thread.

Opposite ratio could lock a thread at top.

Any post with a high positive ratio could be moved to top of page?

I know TD is coded in house. In ten years I've seen so many cool changes. I just think that now that voting on posts is over four years old maybe they could have stakes.

Also the ability to merge german posts would be cool. Saints report did that. Horrid site though, quit in 07.

I’ve always thought we should be able to buy extra votes like mulligans in a golf tournament.

Just think if Facebook ranked the sluts that got poked a lot.

I just want to be able to look at my "posts" page and see if anything I posted has many upvotes or downvotes.

Now, I would have to click to the post to find out. Just not worth the extra trouble.

That rule would hurt your own posts, as you are about to be flooded with downvotes

Chicken should institute Hellbans. You can view and create posts, but they never actually make it to the site and you're never made aware of this so it's like everyone has you on ignore.

There should be an auto ban threshold for down votes on a post

Example..

Post is so bad it gets 250 down votes then that user gets a time out

It would be nice if he expanded the PM inbox above 50.

Pretty sure the trending tab accomplishes this in some form.

It uses page views too. Which TD used to have visible as I recall

I know. Any post that mentions votes gets a downvote especially when they edit to call out being mad at being down voted.

"ETA- whoever downvoted me has a small dink"

Yeah I down vote that ever time. I mean what is a dink?

Anyway, just wondered if they could have use.

The number one most needed thing is a purgatory board for banned posters and registered users only.

If you’re suggesting down votes should have some real negative impact, that was the plot on “Orville” last week. The plot was thin and not well thought out.

Arbitrary things get down voted. Sometimes even well thought out posts get down voted just because they are unpopular. It would make this place even more of an echo chamber circle jerk if down votes made comments less visible.

This is actually a pretty good idea in theory. unfortunately, up/down votes are often a function of the popularity of the poster....even if oWEo posts something sensible, it is immediately buried in downvotes.

Is like to see it mean something outside of the post. Maybe a % ranking on profile so people will know if you are a troll/idiot or if you actually contribute to discussion, or at least make people laugh.

No as the back channelers and Tier wannabes would start group downvoting

The only change I'd like to see re voting is, if we must have it, make votes public

Nah.
Some posters get downvotes by political fanatics without people reading the post.
Rex and toddy.
The mix of td right to left is 5 anarchist right, 70 right, 20 moderate 5 left.

There are some great threads that the OP gets a tremendous amount of downvotes.
Good example is the Hammertime "Knuckles" thread. I would have hated for that thread to be anchored, would have missed a lot of laughs.
