I just used the word "transgender" for convenience.
We already have in laws in place, that in theory, prevent mentally ill people from legally obtaining firearms.
SSRI use should get your guns taken away until you can get your shite together.

So I look at this from a different angle.
I think we have a problem with younger people dealing with disappointment and not winning. Hear me out.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Played every sport. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The first time you experience losing, the emotions are deep but we were young and learned how to to deal with these feelings. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Having this perspective allowed you to strive for excellence, but if it didn’t happens we’d dust ourselves off, refocus and strive for excellence again.
Fast forward to today’s younger generation.
They grew up not playing sports like those of us from the past. They live in shells and cocoons and don’t strive for excellence. They exist. When their preferred presidential candidate doesn’t win, the come unglued. When a person on internet videos says things they don’t like, the react with extremism. They are at a loss with how to deal with loss, anger, and disappointment. And they react with violence. Extreme violence.
Growing up we were fully engaged and there was no one that shot up their school or assassinated their perceived enemies.
Learn to deal with loss and disappointment and we can return to a civilized society.

Gender affirmation should simply be treatment to affirm the born gender not the way we do it now.
That is already taking place

We just need to quit saying that word as if it’s a real thing so this can all go away. It’s .0001 of people that like to pretend it’s a real thing and they’re absolute nut jobs who have been completely brainwashed

It’s a mental illness and if you’re a drug addict and can’t own a weapon you shouldn’t own a weapon if on ssri’s and hormones. Same reason trans shouldn’t be in the military. It’s a powder keg.

Frick that. They are clinically insane. We don't give insane people, guns. Period.

No. They are mentally ill people in many cases being pumped fuel of chemicals. They belong in insane asylums.

Yeh, but Transtifa is a terrorist organization. Should not be allowed to own guns and I'm a big 2A guy.
This is more for they/thems safety because they stick out like sore thumbs and the next one that kicks off some violence is liable to kick off some retribution.

Currently, SCOTUS allows trans to own them.
Second amendment.
Being trans, in and of itself, is not a mental disorder in the DSM or ICD.
There are other criteria that must be met.
A better question would be should people with gender dysphoria, or gender dysphoric disorder, be legally allowed to own firearms?
By the way, even people with serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia bipolar disorder are allowed to own guns unless they are adjudicated by the courts as:
(this app applies to anyone, not just people with schizophrenia)
1. “mental defective": This refers to a formal determination by a court or other lawful authority that, due to mental illness, the person is a danger to themselves or others, or lacks the mental capacity to manage their own affairs
Or
2 . Committed to a mental institution by a legal authority. (voluntary admission does not count)
Let’s not forget the gun control act of 1968.
A diagnosis alone does not remove one’s ability to legally own a firearm.

No, we don’t. See my post directly above this one.

only question i have is who decides what qualifies for mentally ill? do you not think that will be abused? what about the phrase "shall not be infringed"?
