Every day we wake up is potentially a bad day. Somebody else gets to decide if we'll need a gun that day -- and they typically don't provide a lot of advance warning.

quote:I seem to recall that the BR diocese decided that catholic churches under its authority could/would not allow CCW.
I’ve never seen an armed guard posted up at any Nola area or BR Catholic Church.
I would not be surprised if this was common at some baptist church in rural town in the south though.
There are quite a few protestant churches in BR that do allow CCW under the provisions of state law (a. Church leadership must decide to allow certain members to carry; b. Leadership must inform the congregation of this decision; c. Those authorized to carry must get 8 hours of "Tactical Training" annually - in addition to having a valid concealed handgun permit.)

why not have an armed guard near the front door like just about every church does in red states these days?

My daughter goes to school at a very large Presbyterian Church here in Nashville. Not only do they have 2 armed guards but they replaced every single window with bulletproof glass this past summer.
We're talking several hundred windows.
They're not fooling around and I feel very comfortable with "all these armed guards walking around the school" pitt mayor Santa Claus was virtue signaling over.

I saw this posted by a Jewish pro-gun group, and I believe it is accurate- regardless of whether or not some can stomach it.
quote:
With all due respect, singing songs, lighting candles and posting the phrase "Never Again", regardless of the number of exclamation points, is not going to stop anyone from killing Jews. Fear of being shot by armed Jews. That's what will stop them.

I'd ask the person who down-voted my post a simple question: Is someone safer being unarmed when an armed maniac is coming to take their life than if they were armed?
It's not a trick question. I'll wait.
