Quit trying to be cute and set someone up. Just tell us what the organization and job are.

Facebook has been a godsend when trying to decide on hiring. We looked up a guy on Facebook who was about to get hired and saw his activities and his march in a "protest". Thanks for the pictures you posted!

Whew, we got lucky and that guy didn't.

Interesting read. Wonder if the review of cases will turn up anything or if he was leading two lives.

In Louisiana, You don't need a reason to fire anyone. It's the LAW.

The employer should have the right to fire an employee for any reason.

Just an example but lets say a person speaks out against abortion but works in an abortion clinic. Should the clinic be able to fire them for it?

as long as they follow the local law, yes.

Is this about the cop caught at the KKK rally?

Yes it is. He knows that he's next to get fired. Why anyone would have anything to do with the KKK in this day and age is beyond me. I hate to see a resurgence of it. Right now it's just fringe people involved. If the more mainstream get interested god help us all. Especially if those mainstreams are cops.

The KKK is a hate group that has been associated with criminal activity in the past. Yes, a police officer should be fired for associating himself with criminal activity, contrary to popular blue line belief.

Well, common sense tells me that if I, as a pharmaceutical sales rep, join a local "BIG PHARMA IS THE DEVIL" activist group and publicly espouse that philosophy, then I better be prepared to lose my job.

By the standards of this board, I'm liberal as all hell but no one has the "right" to any job.

If I feel my right to say whatever I want is more important than paying my bills, then I am absolutely free to make that choice.

My employer is also absolutely free to fire my arse if my behavior negatively impacts their business or image.

Good job performance is not the only thing that an employer considers when evaluating the value of an employee.

So members of the klan shouldn't have rights? But gangbangers with the blue handkerchief should?

What rights?

The government is not doing anything to interfere with a KKK member's "rights".

Your rights are not given to you by your employer.

You don't have a "right" to any job you want.

Your employer has the "right" to fire you for being an idiot or embarrassing the company.

It really depresses me how many people see the results of a private actor and holler about "rights".

I mean, frick it, I'm sick of being a pharma rep. I want to be employed as a princess. It's my "right", right?
