Should insurance pay for gender reassignment?

I find it surprising that insurance will pay for it but not medically necessary experimental treatments for life threatening conditions.

I have Aetna and hate them. So glad my insurance premiums are assisting those who want to be castrated:

You're asking the wrong question. What you seem to be asking is if insurance companies should be required to cover that type of surgery. That answer is a resounding NO.
If an individual wants to pay for that type of coverage and an insurance company wants to offer that coverage, well, more power to them. As for me, I'll choose NOT to subsidize that elective medical procedure.
