He will easily regret that once he gets to college. But judging by his taste in cars, he's probably just heading straight into plant work anyway so that may not be an issue

Jut Google it, they have all kinds of shite to make it easier today, but all we did was remove all the 24v parts ie: starter, alternator etc and replace em with 12v parts

IIRC, they have a dog of a diesel engine like the trucks. I haven't looked at them in a long time, but it should be the 6.5

Yep. This thing is a 24v system and rattles like a can of nickels. And it's diesel. And it will get stolen because any worn out chevy key will fit it. And start it. But that truck is a little beast. And it's 4wd.

I'd also be looking at the mileage on it. Too little or too high and I'd pass. It would be cool to be able to see maintenance records, but coming from a government auction, that is highly unlikely

K5s are great, but I'd stick to a gasser and an 89-91 only.

There are maintenance records. But I doubt they will be available during an auction. Knowing I'll need a good diesel mechanic alone is enough for me to steer clear.
