I get those bitches all over my house. I kill them with my fireplace lighter, then in a month or so a whole new batch moves in - I have a few of them on my back porch with webs under the window sills or in between the screens and the windows. On a couple occasions I've found some egg sacs. Threw some in a jar and hatched them once. Left them in there for several months, until only one live one remained. I then released this SuperSpider in the woods so he could breed a new generation of indestructible Brown Widows to terrorize the planet. Here was my little Jar of Death...

The mom was smart. As soon as I lit the wd40 she was out of there. She probably bit my arse too; she was fast, I was in flip flops. Her chirrun weren't so lucky

The Sydney Funnel Web spider looks like a bad mofo. I saw a documentary where the lesion would last years. One woman couldn't even leave her house. She couldn't stop crying on camera and it was heartbreaking to see.
Spider experts say it's unfair to blame the spider because there is no proof they are the direct cause of it, but there are hundreds of cases like hers.

Only one time when I lived down there did I ever see one out of captivity. My wife's aunt had a small stone pond in her backyard with a half dozen or so of the big goldfish in it. Somehow, two funnel webs started hanging around there and managed to kill all of those damn goldfish. It was a shallow pond, so I guess they got right up to the edge and somehow got em'. She calls us out to help kill them. My brother-in-law was a firefighter, so he gets his boots, gloves, jacket, pants on (super thick material), ran a rake over each one, and when trapped under the rake he beat their fricking guts out with a metal bar. Not a scene you see every day.
The common ones you see down there are the redbacks and whitetails. They'll make you sick as a dog, unless you have a weak immune system, or are really old or an infant then they can kill you. Killed plenty of those frickers in the shed, garage, etc.
